Tyler Koscinsky, a beloved son, brother, friend, and athlete tragically lost his life in a car accident at the age of 20.

Tyler was the embodiment of love, kindness, and joy. With an infectious smile and an unrivaled sense of humor, he brought light and laughter to everyone who knew him. He was a goofball at heart, always ready to crack a joke or brighten someone’s day with his playful spirit.

But Tyler was much more than just a fun-loving friend. He fiercely loved his family and friends, embodying the best traits of his parents. He was the caring big brother and the ever-attentive little brother, always looking out for those he cherished most. His friendships were deep and meaningful, and he was known for the way he uplifted those closest to him.

As a talented athlete, Tyler left a lasting impact on his teammates and his teams. He was a leader both on and off the field, mentoring younger athletes and serving as a role model for others. A standout baseball player at Aurora University, Tyler quickly became a valued member of the team. As a freshman, he was taken under the wing of upperclassmen, forming lasting bonds. Though he decided to take time away from school this past year to reflect on the direction of his life, his love for the sport and his teammates remained steadfast.

Tyler’s heart was as big as his athletic talent. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering support of others. He had a special way of making everyone around him feel important, cared for, and appreciated. His caring nature extended beyond his immediate circle, and he often mentored younger athletes, particularly in baseball, helping to shape them not only as players but as individuals.

Tyler attended Lincoln Way West High School, where he made countless memories both in competition and fun. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his memory will continue to inspire those left behind.

While Tyler was taking time to figure out his next steps in life, he never got the chance to realize the full potential of his dreams. But his life—though tragically cut short—was one of love, laughter, and leadership. He was deeply loved by his family, friends, and teammates, and losing him will be felt forever.

The Tyler Koscinsky Memorial Foundation has been established to honor his legacy by supporting young athletes in pursuit of their dreams. Donations will help provide scholarships for athletic equipment and educational opportunities, ensuring that Tyler’s spirit continues to inspire the next generation of athletes.

Tyler was loved—so loved—and he will be forever missed.

In the months leading up to his passing, Tyler had been reflecting on his journey, both in life and in sports. Like many young adults, he found himself at a crossroads, unsure of his next steps. He had taken some time away from school to reevaluate what he truly wanted for his future. During one heart-to-heart conversation with his mom, Kelly, she reassured him that no matter what he chose, they would find a way to support him, whether he wanted to go back to school or pursue other paths.

In response, Tyler offered a moment of clarity, reflecting on his years as a standout baseball player at Lincoln Way West. With the wisdom that often surprises us in our young ones, he said to his mom, "It was a good run, mom, and I'm ok going out like that."

While Tyler’s life was tragically cut short, these words have taken on a deeper meaning for those who knew him. His phrase, “It was a good run,” encapsulates the grace with which he lived his life. Though he was taken far too soon, he left a legacy that was full of love, joy, and leadership.

The Tyler Koscinski Memorial Foundation carries this spirit forward. Though Tyler may not have had the chance to complete his journey, his ‘good run’ will inspire and uplift future generations of young athletes, helping them pursue their own dreams. His legacy reminds us that while life can be unpredictable and sometimes far too short, it’s not about how long we have—but about how much we give and the impact we leave behind.
